How To Rap In Three Languages

August 29, 2007

Just set up a new Bonus Features blog, for stuff that doesn't quite fit on the front page.. behind the scenes footage from my radio show, outtakes from other vids, and whatever else strikes my fancy. Starting it off with a nice clip from last week's show, a freestyle session with emcees from New York, London, Berlin and Paris.

Bill O'Reilly Is Mad, Doggie.

August 19, 2007

A rebuttal to Bill O'Reilly's latest bit of anti-hiphop theater. Background music provided by Max Roach's M'Boom project, an all-percussion ensemble that also included my stepdad, Warren Smith.

Nas "Where Are They Now" 1950s remix

August 8, 2007

A while ago Nas hooked up all-star remixes of his song "Where Are They Now," with his favorite artists from the 1990s and 1980s. This video mashup takes it a few step further, imagining what would happen if he brought back an all star crew from the 1950s.

(For the record I actually hate the word "mashup," but I figure it's too late to fight it.)

(In the next video I'll return to my standard yapping.)

KRS One: How to See Your Future

August 6, 2007

Here's a clip from KRS One's show this weekend at the Prospect Park Bandshell in Brooklyn. He tells the crowd how 25 years ago he was homeless and sleeping right in this very bandshell, and he told himself back then, "one day, I'm gonna rock this park."

Chocolate Radiohead

August 1, 2007

Tay Zonday's Chocolate Rain mixed with Radiohead's "Talk Show Host", a musical interlude while I look for new topics to rant about. Yes yes I know, the Tay Zonday meme is played out*, but I couldn't resist throwing my hat in the ring.

(*Science has proven that any meme becomes played out precisely at the moment when people start calling it a meme.)
