Tay Zonday's Chocolate Rain mixed with Radiohead's "Talk Show Host", a musical interlude while I look for new topics to rant about. Yes yes I know, the Tay Zonday meme is played out*, but I couldn't resist throwing my hat in the ring.
(*Science has proven that any meme becomes played out precisely at the moment when people start calling it a meme.)

Wow you did a great job with this one Jay! I respect the fact you took a more respectful approach as opposed to belittling the fella.

That's really well done. Impressive mix of real world images too... definitely makes it a powerful video. Played out or not it's all good.

Fantastic work! I would love to have this in mp3 form. Any chance you could hook us up?
Posted by: DawgEatah at August 1, 2007 2:32 PM
i think that his lyrics are pretty dope, and if he didn't have that god awful voice he'd be a pretty ill singer...
putting to a radiohead tune makes it all the more intense and meaningful, gotta give u mad props, jay

Jay, is that a different version of Talk Show Host? That's actually the song that got me into Radiohead and it sounds slightly different from the one I have. Did you modify it yourself, or is this something I can find somewhere?
Posted by: coqui at August 1, 2007 10:39 PM
coqui: I did make some changes to patch this instrumental version together, put in extra instruments here and there and added the one part with thom yorke yelling..
Posted by: Jay Smooth at August 1, 2007 10:59 PM
How did you get the accapella ???
Posted by: QBoogz at August 1, 2007 11:04 PM
nice, so much better than the original music.
Posted by: julien at August 2, 2007 12:06 AM
I agree with bobbybuttersoft. If you read the comments for the video on YouTube, some people have not been very decent.
These types of negative comments and your video on Lukewarm Ghetto Snooze are what prompted me to post Negatify Does not Generate Forward Momentum.
I like that you put a positive spin on what this guy did, and did your own work to make it better. It is one of the reasons that I continue to watch your videos.
Posted by: Thomas at August 2, 2007 1:34 AM
i'm speechless. you COMPLETELY rocked that. dayum.
how did you filter it to get an acapella like that?
this is truly dope.
Posted by: poetx at August 2, 2007 4:10 PM
Is this track available for download? I know the original was created under the creative commons license.
Also, check out his other video and the comparison or Tay Zonday to another YouTube singer/songer writer over here.

Jay: Yeah, the instrumental caught my ear, I'm that guy in the crew with all the instrumental cd's. Props, that John Lee Hooker joint you put together was fire too. What program do you use?
Posted by: coqui at August 2, 2007 7:30 PM
thanks coqui, I do my audio editing in Adobe Audition/Cool Edit, then edit the video in Sony Vegas..
crankcast: i will try and put an mp3 up soon..

Jay....this is proper. Best mashup of any song I've heard in a minute.
Posted by: Pez at August 4, 2007 8:05 PM
Call me lame, but I actually like the mix of opera and hip hop.

so Jay, how bout an mp3 for that 50/John Lee Hooker mashup?
Posted by: coqui at August 5, 2007 9:38 PM
I still don't understand the Tay Zonday craze. I didn't even think his song/video was interesting enough to make fun of, and yet the guy was on Best Week Ever (I don't watch that crap, really I don't).
Posted by: Bigsby at August 6, 2007 12:45 PM
Oh, man. Killed it. The harmony makes this so much better than the bizarre original. :)
Posted by: Steve Woolf at August 8, 2007 3:44 AM
dope mix man. sheesh, you actually make this kid, kinda, aight. lol.
Posted by: jason reynolds at August 13, 2007 2:58 AM
Can someone explain this meme? Who is Tay Zonday?
Posted by: Hilfe at August 14, 2007 4:40 AM
This mix is what the song was meant to be. I'm glad somebody understands this.
Posted by: Cristin at August 16, 2007 10:04 PM
Holy hell.. that was fucking fantastic. Wow.. you just made this long completely listenable. I want to download this as an .mp3!
Really great. Do more.
Posted by: Daniel at August 17, 2007 6:09 AM
Did you contact the original Tay Zonday and notify of this remix... It actually makes the song likeable. And still more of a meme.
I don't dislike his voice... it just very unique and I think that is why Chocolate Rain is popular. It is odd... you don't know if you like it or hate it. (But you find yourself walking down the street singing... Chocolate Rain ... whether you love it or hate it.
Posted by: Deidra at August 21, 2007 4:58 PM
nice.. nice nice..
you're the meme king up there... whoever said "chocolate rain is dead" is fuckin crazy... nothing dead til you've remixed it AFAIAC...
got anything to say on the starwars kid?
