A Visit From DJ Babu

September 15, 2008

A little footage I found from when the legendary DJ Babu guest deejayed on my radio show, back in 2002. Check out his beat-juggling on the Emotions' "Blind Alley." (Observers in the background are DJ Emskee, DJ Avee, Randy and the ever enthusiastic DJ Tomkat.)

i remember the late 90s when i was so deep into turntablism. i still cant skratch, but i loved watching tapes and collecting mixes. classic shit here!

Posted by: khal at September 15, 2008 2:59 PM

Lol, Bigsby beat me to it.

Legendary, repping for the Pinoys and Pinays. Not like we're under-repped in DJing, lolz.

DOPE SHIT.

Posted by: daƶsl at September 15, 2008 3:36 PM

Oh man, that was amazing.

Jay, please don't hesitate for a second to put up stuff like this. I know you know your video show is like a mix, yo, so between your knowledge if you drop a little science demo (like this), well, that's fine and all part of the flow. Interlude!

Babu, one of the best to ever do it...

Posted by: Jaycee at September 15, 2008 10:08 PM

Man, your show must of brought so many people some great times. That is tight! Thanks for sharing.

Holy shizzle! That was tight! Thank you. It made my week.

C-A... All day!

mad skillz!!

Posted by: Clintus at September 16, 2008 6:56 AM

I like the swing in that beat juggle. I get so used to hearing straight 4/4 out of the beat machines, that such things are a refreshing perspective.

Posted by: Whit at September 16, 2008 8:13 PM

Technique! No doubt, but can he do it on The Replicator?

Posted by: ramoncar at September 17, 2008 2:42 PM

Ramoncar-

I believe the device you are referring to is the "Weplicator"

Posted by: Whit at September 17, 2008 10:32 PM

even when the record skips... dope

Posted by: web hustler at September 18, 2008 2:14 AM

wow i just have one question...Jay how were you able to keep the camera so still through all of that? because if i was holding it the scene would be all messed up cause i'd be goin nutz! you've got excellent qi.

YEP I remember. Crying right now. Where did those days go?

What up, Jay? Check out Ill Doctrine's spot on my blog The Official Marvel Guide To The Bloggerverse:

One.

I did not know that was The Emotions all these years. Ultimate Beats and Breaks never gave the artists names. The emotions are one of the best girl groups of our times. Thanks ...now I gotta go see where I can find the original album.

hey whats the first song he used... the one with the piano keys?

Undeniably believe that which you said. Your favorite reason seemed to be on the internet the simplest thing to be aware of. I say to you, I definitely get irked while people consider worries that they plainly do not know about. You managed to hit the nail upon the top as well as defined out the whole thing without having side-effects , people can take a signal. Will likely be back to get more. Thanks
