Real quick reaction to the Super Tuesday excitement from a lefty perspective. Recorded on Tuesday night but I didn't have a chance to post it till now. (Because I had to set up a last minute trip to Istanbul.. thanks for nothing NY voters!!)

At first when I came through I was like "water chestnuts?" But of course being a stan, I clicked on the video, heard what you had to say and liked the analogy.
Hopefully they'll continue to play nice, and I think they will considering they are in a tight race. Maybe stumping will keep the negativity to a minimum? Who knows. It's hard to play nice with the other side sometimes. It seems like they tend to "go there" before anything. If I hear "Barack is a MUSLIM!!! I must vote for Hillary" one more time, I'm pulling a Mike Douglas in Falling Down.
P.S. I eat water chestnuts! Their great in stir-fries :D

while i'm more a sesame chicken kinda girl - i abhor water chestnuts. Always have.
what possible nutritional value can they have? aside from fiber, maybe. ugh. disgusting, crunchy white bits. [a more fitting metaphor for 'the other guys' than i realized.] :)
this blog was tight until you start nutriding obama every video
and ur not movin anywhere dude, stop frontin

I voted but I never told anyone who.
Does it matter if I tell them who I voted? I say, do your own homework and vote for the person that fits your needs.
Before I die, I want to see a Woman President and a Brother President.

I love your videos. And forming a united front is so true. We always are so passionate and stubborn about our canidate we feel like we are caving in if we form a united front.
I look forward to all your videos, they always give me something to talk to my friends about and something for me to digest before i take on the world tomorrow.
Have an awesome night.

I'm not worried about water chestnuts for the next four years so much as I'm worried about water-boarding. And McCain, who oughta fucking better know better, doesn't seem too concerned.

i actually like water chestnuts with my general tso's. i mean this in the non-metaphorical sense of course...
finally some sane words amidst a sea of bullsshhhh~ nice work (as usual) jay!
i just sent an email response with pretty much the same sentiment of this vlog back to a friend who keeps sending me pro-one-particular-candidate. i too appreciate the enthusiasm and passion (i've learned a lot about myself while researching my choice), but i get really turned off to anything resembling missionary-work or proselytizing.
i'm just really happy to see that there are some people who are reminding everyone to keep our eyes on the prize. plus, i'm getting really sick of this racial/sexist crap that's dominating election "coverage." what's really killin me is that in 2008 America, apparently only 3 races exist: black, white and latino. the last time i felt this pissed that the yellow people of this country were this invisible in the media was the LA riots, and that was 14 damn years ago. i thought things would be different by now.
and for the record, i actually LIKE tofu and water chestnuts, but not as far as the metaphor you laid out goes =D
water chestnuts have a fun crunch. buy a can. put it on a salad. they're tasty!

I like water chestnuts.

What!? Some craziness you experienced! People have been civil on the Upper West Side. Not one incident did I experience today running around. I only saw one person with a Hillary Clinton sticker that was all torn up, and I ran out the house without the right coat on because it was HOT today. I guess the LAWD was trying to say just chill out and give a brother a break! ;)
J, too bad your in NY. First time I felt the need to vote and the guy I voted for took GA. Who knew a black man would win Georgia? Looks like it's gonna be a tight race. But, Hill will take it. I justify this feeling of dread because I know she at least comes with Bill. That can't be all bad. Can it?

Now that it has come down to McCain as the Republican candidate, Obama and Clinton have to fight to the death in a CNN cage match.
Once Hillary unhinges her jaw and peels back her headmask to expose her metal endoskeleton, will Obama have the chance to take her out as well as her "trainer," Bill.
Jokes aside, we need Barack Obama to be the Democratic candidate. As much as the media loves to skewer him on inexperience, he does represent change and intelligent action. Do Americans really want to have these revolving Clinton and Bush dynasties? I forget who said that presidents are like diapers, they need to be changed every so often
Yo Jay I was ready to rip ya a new one for beefin' with the Dub C(Water Chestnuts), then I looked it up on Wiki and found out they are a common carrier of the largest intestinal fluke known. I just ate some yesterday! I guess I should go ahead and get an absentee ballot. I don't feel so good. Oh yeah, I'm voting for Eric B. Yo what happened to Peace?
Peace,Peace,Peace

Posted by: toronto at February 9, 2008 10:15 AM
As usual, great perspective, but you know sesame chicken is where it's at.
I hate water chestnuts too! The real ones for sure. The repub dudes don't sit too well with me either. We all ARE on the same team. The team of being content as we are doing what we do to make each day alright. Sometimes it seems like folks complicate so much. But then sometimes so do I.
Mr. Smooth you always say something that means something to me. If I weren't gay I'd ask ya to marry me ; )
Peace!

Not stalkin', but your mailboxes seem very familiar– do you live in LT?

Do you really 'hate' tofu and water-chestnuts or are you just playing to your audience?
Hey, if you're going to give whole brain thinking a go, whole food eating is nice too my man.
tofu spread, better than hummus
but that probably sounds like eating sandpaper, better than eating glass, to you right?

Sorry to do this Jay, but I need to know where this relationship is going? One week you are here all the time and the next you disappear. We just can't go on like this. So I'm cutting you from my RSS subs until you can make a commitment. I thought what we had was special!
Seriously though, dude, post up or I have to say later.

Not only are Water Chestnuts disgusting, there always seems to be 3x as many water chestnuts as any other ingredient in those dishes. WTF!
And I was thinking the same as I was in the Democrats abroad Super Tuesday event here in London. I was happy to be around like-minded Americans passionate about making a change and being proud of their home even though they live abroad for whatever reason. But after we saluted the flag, it was announced that we should go to our separate candidate's corners. What followed was a game of who can shout the loudest.
The warm-and-fuzzies I was feeling disappeared really quickly...and then so did I.
Jay whats the deal? Is it something we said? or didnt say?

I'm with you General Tao is better than Sesame in more ways than one. And hell no, nobody wants the tofu and water chestnuts. Great analogy, and as usual great post. Can't wait to hear tonights show.
