Rare MC Serch Footage

December 6, 2007

A while ago I went to the birthday party for legendary 3rd Bass emcee and "White Rapper Show" host MC Serch, and got a couple of gems on tape. The first is a rare clip of teenage MC Serch long before he got a record deal, showing off his dance moves at a local talent show:

And here's the highlight of the party, when Serch's mother took the stage to tell how her showbiz career paved the way for her son. She sang a little number from when she used to perform with Frank Sinatra, and remembered how as a kid Serch rolled with the Nation of Gods and Earths (aka the 5 Percenters), whom she referred to as "The Ten Percents":

Now let me get this straight... You, Smooth, ain't got no connections with enough Bling people to get a camera? Even the "Dark Days" director knew what to do. And furthermore, ain't you got no groupies by now. And lastly, didn't you go to school with all those trust-fund kiddies, can't you call in a reunion favor or two? I mean even a drug addict knows how to get a working camera... Man, what is this world comin to when a brilliant mind such as yours can't even get some technology. Sad and a shame.
